In music, we’ve been roaring
out some great tunes in the Lion Room. When we started in September, all of our songs were about the new friends we were making
in our new school year. We used the rhythm sticks to help us with our new songs. We played our rhythm sticks loud, soft, fast,
and then slowly. In the second week of September, we talked about the importance of our flag. We each had our own flag to
wave as we sang, “You’re a Grand Ole Flag.” We also used streamers to dance to different types of music.
Our music was a mixture of slow, classical, and contemporary upbeat songs. We let our streamers dance to the various beats.
In third week of September, we played several games with bean bags. Some of the songs we sang were, “Pass the Bean Bag”,
“ Bean Bag Boogie”, and “Bean Bag Catch.” In the fourth week of September, we shook our shakers. We
used our imagination to pretend that out shakers were tools to help us clean the house, as we sang, “This is the way
we clean our house.”
Next, we pretended they were animals as we sang, “The animals in the jungle.” As we move into October, we will begin to work on our songs for the Christmas play.
